I would say there is something very wrong with your AVG.

I have used Avira Antivir for many years.
Antivir takes about as much time for scanning as my paid av-software.
It finds about just as much as the paid software.

Just did a (scheduled) scan of 1,048,057 files in 46:35 minutes.
No detection.

Most remarkable that AVG should find so much more in so much less time.
I would not trust your version of AVG.
