--- Sez Stuart Dubois to David Marheine ---
D> Barclay James Harvest _Alone We Fly_
D> This is a collection from '74 into the '80's
SD> I've owned most of their albums through the late 70's at one time or
SD> another, and I wouldn't call them bland, at least not all the time.
SD> They alternated between intense, proggy numbers and weak
SD> straight-ahead numbers, and were very uneven.
The one I remember seeing (and possibly owning) was _Baby James Harvest_
which sounded kinda like (Yeah, Kenneth, SoCal) baby food as I recall.
SD> ..._Live_ album, and the _Live Tapes_ album, were the only really
SD> consistent things they ever did, and are both brilliant prog albums a
SD> la Camel, Genesis, Moody Blues, and other "classic" English prog
SD> bands.
_Alone We Fly_ makes me think of either Supertramp or Alan Parsons Project
in their less commercial modes. With a different label or some US tours,
maybe BJH could've been as big as one of them...
SD> ...they remained wildly popular at
SD> least in Germany until late in the 80's...last I heard.
Which would explain the live stuff recorded in Berlin in the 80's...
D>>>Are they made from REAL Girl Scouts?
SD> That is sick and disgusting...
I think I should've formatted it thusly, since it's from a movie (that
happened to be on the tube last night):
... addams___are they made from REAL Girl Scouts?
Morticia's purring delivery of "Ooh... You've done this before,"
to the guy stretching her on the rack was choice!
