Hi, Bob. BL> BL> That's on my list of things to learn. I've successfully avoided BL> BL> spreadsheets and databases for a long time, but I can feel BL> BL> them, closing in on me... BL> FM> Do you mean using them, or writing a program to do that? A BL> FM> spreadsheet is a piece of piss to use, you don't need no book BL> FM> or nuffin - just do it. Corse to use *well*, well that's a BL> FM> different question. BL> Both. I learned Lotus 1-2-3 (poorly) at one stage, to see what I BL>could use it for, but I never did find much value in it. I'm surprised. I use a spreadsheet (not Lotus, Quattro - sometimes Excel) for absolutely everything with numbers that might get calculated. Especially if they're going to change - 1 number & the whole lot gets redone. Or lists/tables of things - so easy just to sort the stuff (although Word's table handling is pretty good). I actually did the netlist for the computer I designed on a spreadsheet. Not the best tool, but it was there. BL> FM> A database program can be easy or hard to use, depending on its BL> FM> human interface. I like Paradox which is very intuitive. Rod BL> FM> does too. Since you're into VB, you should probably look at MS BL> FM> Access. BL> Yes... but M$ worries me. If it was so good, why did they buy the BL>other one? You've lost me - who bought what? Borland, who have Paradox, bought dBase - IMHO to soak up the competition. Regards, FIM. * * The best way to save face is to keep the lower part shut. @EOT: ---* Origin: Pedants Inc.
