  I tell you what... these doctors are slippery bastards.

  Mum went into hospital as a public patient time because it was an 
emergency, and when you're in; you're in. The bureaucracy has her
listed as a public patient and that's the end of it.

  The doctor who did the original glaucoma operation (that he fucked
up) only takes private patients. He's a greedy bastard but a fair
surgeon. Mum likes him a lot better than me. He's such a great doctor
that she's been going to him for 20 years... is that a joke, or what? 

  The doctor who treated Mum in Sydney Eye Hospital foolishly gave me
a letter (I pretended I couldn't understand him) stating quite baldly 
that her probelm was caused by the botched glaucoma operation, and when 
they put her on a list as "elective surgery" I went to the first doctor 
and told him about the letter, and how displeased I was with his 
performance. He's only a little bloke and I monstered him. He agreed 
to do the operation on Thurday, which was his earliest date (they have 
rostered days in the operating room).

  The basic rule of the World is that when you have someone by the
short hairs - pull - so I told him Mum was a public patient and we
didn't expect to pay him. Fuck him! 

  The creepy bastard has slipped the hook. Suddenly, he's booked Mum
in for Tuesday (to do her a favour, he says), with the other surgeon
(whom I prefer anyway). 

  These bastards can manipulate the system any way they like! If I had
not had the letter (and the Lawrence killer instinct), Mum would still
be sitting around waiting for her number to come up on the elective
surgery list. If you have a way to screw a doctor, they can do what
they bloody like. They run public bloody hospitals to suit themselves.
