 Categories: Cakes, Jewish
      Yield: 1 Cake

      6    Peeled pink crispy apples;
           -thinly sliced and halved
      3 Eggs
    1/8 ts Salt
      5 tb Sugar
    3/4 c Flour
      1 ts Baking powder
    1/4 c Butter (50 g); melted
1 ts Orange and/or lemon zest
           -(optional)
    1/2 ts Cinnamon
    1/2 c Dairy free milk
      1 ts Vanilla extract
           Powdered sugar; garnish

Layers of thin apples and sweet custard come together for the ultimate
  holiday dessert.

  Preheat oven to 350øF/180øC.

Place apple slices in a large bowl. In a separate deep bowl, beat 3
eggs with pinch of salt and sugar to a light yellow and airy hue, add
flour and baking powder sifted through a sieve, mix to a uniform
batter, add melted butter, mix well, add orange or lemon zest
(optional) and cinnamon, add milk and vanilla extract and mix until
  there is a uniform batter.

Pour the batter over the cut apples, mix to a uniform mixture. Leave
some apple slices aside to cover the top of the cake.

Grease a 13x5" loaf pan with melted butter. Pour mixture into the
mold. Arrange remaining apples over the batter as shown in the video.

Bake for 30 minutes at 350øF/180øC, lower the temperature to
300øF/150øC and bake for another 30 minutes or until the cake is
shaped and the apples have a golden-brown hue.

Remove from oven to cool, remove from pan and place on a cake plate,
sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm or cold.
