-> JR> Many moons ago, 1965,  I had a Dodge Dart GTS (a red-headed step
-> child JR> of the JR> Valiant) and it came with a 273 cu in. 235
-> horsepower right from the JR> show-room JR> floor. It was a screamer,
-> I remember in my younger days I use to go JR> looking JR> for the
-> Chevy 283's and Ford 289's. It was sleeper to end all JR> sleepers.
-> what do you mean by sleeper???
A street sleeper is the full term. A sleeper is a car that looks like
it just came off the showroom floor, or out of the junkyard, but is
still very fast. It is more a deceiver, I guess, as it deceives other
drivers into thinking that it is a piece of junk, but then beats them
in a drag race.
