RG> Why do you see the v-brakes as false advertisement?
Shimano came out with their world famous V-brakes a season or two back. They
were the real McCoy, complete with the parallel-push mechanism that is
designed to keep the pads parallel to the rim.
Then, once the name V-brake was synonymous with "awesome stopping power",
they come out with the "el-cheapo" versions, and still called them V-brakes.
(v-brakes "lite" might have been acceptable [IMHO]) They market them as
V-brakes and are installed on bikes of lesser value, giving people who might
not be fully immersed in the bike scene the false impression that they are
getting the real McCoy on their shiney new bike when they are not.
