Bob, at 08:15 on Fri, Dec 16 1994, you wrote to Keith Richardson ... KR> why not run a real point with the advantages of a messagebase KR> with automatic maintenance? BL> Do you mean I ought to learn a whole new program that is as much BL> use to me as a second dick? So I can set up a BBS that I don't want BL> to do? Not a BBS, just the front-end mailer. BL> So I can send some dickhead money for a program that doesn't BL> work very well? ROFL! The most commonly used (and reliable) point//mailer software, such as BinkleyTerm, Squish and MsgEd, are all copyrighted FREEWARE. BL> I can't see the point, really, and I don't need a messagebase BL> manager, either. I use the delete command. The point is that you eliminate the PKTQWK conversion process (one that seems to have caused more hassles than everything else put together), and proper mailer s/w doesn't do shitty things like truncating Subject lines and Name fields etc. Netmail is much easier too - no bullshit with To: 3:nnn/nnn in the message body - it's all transparent. However, it's a matter of personal preference in the end, and after having used QWK readers for some years, I much prefer my current setup (fucked user interface [(C) RS 199n] notwithstanding). |-) Regards, Bill --- Msgedsq/2 2.3á* Origin: Logan City, Qld (3:711/934.18) SEEN-BY: 640/305 711/934 30163/9 @PATH: 711/934 |
