I don't recall seeing this discussed here before so I thought I would
ask.

In the song "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", there is an
instrumental section with horns after the first verse and before they
sing, "We're Sergeant Pepper's Lonely..."

At the start of this section, the crowd is cheering and whistling.  A
couple of seconds after the cheering dies down, there is the sound of
laughter.

I'm wondering what provokes the laughter.
