Hi, Bob.

BL> FM> I haven't looked at PKT and only a little at QWK. I thought QWK
BL> FM> was reasonably straightforward, if a little bizarre in its
BL> FM> implementation of some things like dates and numbers as you
BL> FM> have seen. And, of course limiting in that it doesn't allow the
BL> FM> full length for eg From:/To:/Subject:. I never had to contend
BL> FM> with ^A kludges, never saw them. (Maybe they don't appear in
BL> FM> QWKs.)

BL> I meant translating one to the other. Bizarre is a good word for it.
BL>I've actually got it working!

Yeah, I got my QWK reader working too, by looking at the format with a
hex viewer and making some intelligent guesses.

BL> FM> Hey Paul, I assume PKT is the way things move around in the
BL> FM> "real" world, inter-BBS? What was that Fido spec I
should have
BL> FM> grabbed?

BL> FTS-0001.zip

Thanks, FREQed it tonight.

BL> FM> If I'm going to do something, I might as well handle the lot.
BL> FM> At least allow for everything in "the lot", for future
BL> FM> expansion.

BL> I think the TinyPoint approach is the way to go: an OL*EDITOR* (not
BL>reader), and qwk/pkt converters/joiners. You need separate zippers and
BL>unzippers, so you may as well have separate qwk2pkt and pkt2qwk too.
BL>Both formats are bizarre, so who cares which one you use for the
BL>reader/editor? QWK is more popular, so you may as well use it, and
BL>convert its output to pkt for point use.

My original intention was to create a message base manager for the
stuff I keep, so stuff was going to end up in my own format anyway.
(Yeah, yeah I know - reinventing wheels.)

Regards, FIM.
