Well you know that disk that Acuma (ph 02-906-3485) was selling?
It is a Conner CFS540A, and is 540 meg for $320. It comes with
a 2 year manufacturers warranty (return to the shop or to
Conner Australia according to the shop keeper).

Anyway, my great plan was to replace my SCSI FAT D with the
IDE D drive and get rid of my HPFS F drive and just have one
HPFS E drive. However, there were a couple of things I
didn't know, like OS/2 can't handle me having >1024 on my
IDE drive, and it ignored the CMOS settings when I changed
it to 1024 as recommended by the shopkeep, and then my SCSI
drive isn't recognized because the BIOS couldn't get in
because you're only allowed to have 2 physical disks in the
BIOS, so that ruled out SCSI.

Well despite the above, everything happened reasonably
smoothly, it just took a long time (10 hours or something).
I've yet to reinstall some stuff that I savaged to make
room (CSET, AmiPro etc), but once that's back in, I should
have an extra 500 meg to play around with. Not sure if
I'll put it to use on the BBS or whether I'll just increase
my personal messagebases to buggery. AUST_TRADING is my
biggest echo at the moment, with 10,000 messages.

Perhaps what I can do now is install Watcom on my hard disk
and make the Hobbes CD FREQable from.

Anyway, the problem with starting a DOS program from an OS/2
window has gone away, I no longer get complaints about the
com ports being in use. This is because I have done a
totally fresh OS/2 install. You know, none of my hardware
is actually supported! After doing an OS/2 install, I need
to install separate Adaptec 2842 drivers, then the Soundblaster
16 drivers that allow for the IRQ to be changed via software,
then the Panasonic CDROM drivers, then the Cirrus Logic
video drivers!!! Anyway, the computer is out of its case and
I'll fix it tomorrow.

Oh, and thanks to Rod Speed for helping me get the system
back together when so many stupid things were happening.
BFN. Paul.
