With 3.x you just replace the Server.exe file in the Dos boot partition or on
the floppy if a floppy boot is used. Then bounce the server to load the new
licence.
NW 2.2 was the bastard for licence upgrades. You regenerate the operating
system, and replace the Net$os.exe in the sys:system directory with the newly
generated one. To regenerate you had to locate all the NIC and HDD (SCSI or
whatever) driver object files as well, and also find all other previously
used generation parameters. The server still needed to be bounced. And if
there were an error in the generation, start all over again.
As far as I can remember, NW 2.1x only came in one size.
With the NW 4.1 stackable licences, the server does NOT need to be bounced.
Regards,
Richard.
