With regard to the question Did the Beatles create the music video?
this very issue is addressed in Tony Bramwell's new book about the
Beatles. Bramwell worked for Brian Epstein handling various matters
including music videos.  He claims that the work he did for Brian and
NEMS was indeed a precursor to the modern day music video, although
these productions were not just for the Beatles, but for other artists
as well.
