-> AC> I don't know the abbreviation CSX. Something South TeXas?
->
-> It goes something like Chesapeake Seaboard and ... something else..
-> from its ancestors.
-> Cant remember...
DE> Try...Consolidated States Transportaion...beats me where the X comes
DE> in, but that's what it stands for...
I'd like to know where you got this information from...because this is the
first time I've ever heard that vanicular for CSX. The X stands for
Corporation, as is on many freight cars UTLX, GATX, etc...
The C stands for Chessie System
The S stands for Seaboard System.
It has been suggested that the X has a secondary meaning of "Consolidation",
and the many minor roads that aren't technically parts of Chessie or
Seaboard.
That would give some credibility to what you said above, but the word STATES
has NEVER been associated with CSX in any capacity as far as I know. And by
the way, I live in NS/CSX territory, and although I am an NS man myself, I
have many CSX friends, and I have read a great deal about the CSX. This is
where I get my information from.
