SM> JD> Following code quoted from Tricks of the Game Programming Gurus, ISBN
SM> JD> 0-672-30507-0.
SM> Is that book any good? For example, what does it cover, is it just code
r
SM> does it feature actual documentation on the theory on how things work?
IMHO it's kind of crummy. It features code and theory on how things
work. And that's what bothers me. They throw really interesting theories
at you, explain them only briefly, and then give you code on some
trivial thing.
SM> Does it cover 3D,Sprite Handling, VESA Modes, etc....
It covers (from the table of contents):
Assembly Language Basics,
Input Device Basics,
2D graphics,
VGA,
3D,
Bit mapped graphics and special FX,
3-D sprites,
Sound FX and Music,
Algorithms, data structures, and methodologies,
Surreal Time, Interrupts, Multitasking,
Synthetic intelligence,
Parallax scrolling,
Optimization
SM> Also, how much does it cost and is it still in print?
It cost me $61.95 (Canadian). I think it is still in print. I would
recommend getting "More tricks of the game programming gurus" ISBN
0-672-30697-2 before or in addition to "TotGPG". I liked it a lot more.
