the strange head is album 'The Bends' (1995). 'Pablo Honey' is 1993.
The latest album, 1997, 'Ok Computer', is a total hit (as far as i can
tell). I'd consider only -this- single ('Paranoid Android') to be Prog;
btw, it has distinct sections, true, but most of all the guitar riffs
and moog-like stuff is what i consider pretty much Prog. I'm afraid the
rest of the album has nothing to do with Prog, but if -this- song
becomes a big hit, i think we can expect great things for the future.
CR> I think Bush is good and I like their latest album a lot, but I wouldn't
CR> consider them Prog at all, really. It's just 70s retro Rock with a more
 CR> modern feel.
Yeah, it's more like plain alt-rock, like new-classic-rock. But the
latest single has got a small prog element that i think we should pay
attention for, because more and more bands are doing this.
MB>> new version has been released, without the black kid squeezing the big

MB>> and it's got a real prog feel
CR> OK, I guess I haven't seen the uncut version of the video.
The music is better synchronized to the video in the original version.
Now in some places i feel less artistry in it because of that. In fact,
while they're trying to hide tits and violence without changing too
much the video, there is actually a shot of the diplomat's cut body and
two naked sirens with arms raised that stays like that like about 5
seconds; in the original version my attention is caught by the change
in the music, while in the new version i have nothing better than
watching cartoon tits and red ends, which the censors (who most
probably aren't musicians) surely didn't intend to.
Precising my view on Alt-Prog, see my prev. message to Kenneth.
 MB>> Happy Family Happy Family
CR> I'm still having trouble with this one. It's just a bit too heavy for
 CR> me.
As far as my brain goes, it's purely orgastic.
 MB>> Mekan*k Kommand*h Magma
CR> I've heard this recently and really liked it. I own _Udu Wudu_,
CR> _Attahk_, _Live_, and _Kohntarkosz_, and that Mekanik Kommandoh sounded
CR> every bit as good as any of those.
I have too Retrospektiw ]I[ and Live, methinks.
 MB>> Nucleus Anekdoten
CR> Yea, this is a killer album!
Moment I like the most is when they play the flute and the distorted
bass together at 2:00 of track #7.
 MB>> Vemod Anekdoten
CR> Another favorite of mine. This is a better "album" than _Nucleus_, and
CR> by that I mean that the songs are in a better order, at least to me.
Well, Raft/Rubankh sounded to me, at first, more or less like a broken
version of The Flow, for example, but now i can appreciate most any
song of both albums, though i like the cute songs (Vemod #4 #6 and
Nucleus #8) a little less.
 MB>> Hy*nteisi* voi rakastaa H*yry-Kone
CR> I have this too and like the first song, but haven't gotten into the
 CR> rest yet.
Try tracks #4 #6 #8 #9. (well, these are -my- favorites)
 MB>> Red King Crimson
 CR> My favorite Crimson.
hehehe
 MB>> Dummy Portishead
 MB>> Post Bj*rk
 MB>> Haus der L*ge Einst*rzende Neubauten
CR> What are these 3 like? We seem to have very similar tastes.
The first is Trip-Hop music, or so it was labeled. Precisely it's music
from Bristol city, England, mid-90's. slowed down experimental hip-hop
with borrowings from old jazz, industrial, and such.
The second is like the first but more technoish. The singer (female)
has a really high pitched voice. btw when i say techno it's not
necessarily hard, actually the techno stuff can be gentler than the
trip-hop stuff :-) lots of horns here.
The third is industrial. the band was formed '80; this album is '89.
They're German. (). I'm kinda new to them, but i like them very
much. I'm kinda new to industrial in general... But it took me quite a
while to get into it...
MB>> Brain Salad Surgery Emerson Lake and Palmer
MB>> A Passion Play Jethro Tull
CR> I'm not really an ELP fan, but I do like the whole "Karn Evil 9" thing.
CR> As for Tull, I'm still trying to get into them, but _Passion Play_ is my
 CR> favorite so far.
I'm no ELP fan either, but i -love- Karn Evil 9, and quite like a lot
of ELP songs. Passion Play, Thick as a Brick, and Songs From The Woods
are my fave JT albums.
 MB>> Relayer Yes
CR> Absolutely stunning. A few months back, I listened to this with a
CR> friend (we were introducing another friend to Yes) and then we listened
it's been a while since my last listening to that. i should.
