Leaving Las Vegas - It won an Oscar?  And not even for the
most boring and pointless movie of the year.

On the opposite front - Anything non-B5 that I rave about that
doesn't get much mention - Gattaca.  Proof positive that
superior SF movies don't need any better special effects than
a bottle rocket and a zoom lens.
