subject: WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE?

KN> THings get sorted out eventually but it's been a year of
 KN> flux.
:-)
MB>> Lots of RIO and Zeuhl, and composing my own Techno-RIO on a broken
MB>> sequencer that i love without sarcasm.
KN> I was wondering what techno-zeuhl might sound like but
KN> then I remembered that Heldon's _Un reve sans consequence
KN> speciale_ sounds sort of techno-zeuhlish, and also some
I should try to get my hands (or rather my ears) on this stuff.
MB>> I'm glancing at recent advance in the possible

KN> I dunno, do you think Echolyn could get a major label
KN> deal today? I fear the brief prog revival may be over as
KN> far as the mainstream is concerned but it's certainly
KN> lively in the independent/import/mail order front. Lots
Echolyn was quite a bad prog revival. the mainstream dummies require a
smoother slope; like, this year, it's 1-3 prog songs per album; next
year it's gonna be half the album, and in 2-3 years it's gonna be
completely crazy, if it continues the same way. it may as well slow
down real fast (!?) and go back to nowhere.
MB>> Besides, Grim Skunk are relatively big here (do not expect a prog band
 MB>> to be very big).
KN> I remember they were horrified when I told them I thought
KN> they were a really good prog band, it was as if they were
KN> terribly insulted but didn't want to admit it. Kind of a
KN> shame, they can sound so much like Il Baletto di Bronzo
 KN> when they want to.
:-) don't know il baletto di bronzo, but it is possible that alt-prog
bands don't want to be associated with classic prog. At least Claude
Rajotte seems like one of the most anti-prog guys around, though his
position about it is quite unclear (sometimes talks about prog
influences with enthusiasm, sometimes talks about prog as if it were
total crap, without much details).
 MB>> Nucleus Anekdoten
 KN> I still haven't decided if I like this or not. I think I
KN> do, but I find it a bit dense and still need more time to
 KN> penetrate it.
dense? nucleus? dense? YUP. :-)
but, i once found Yes really dense at first.
 MB>> Jongleries lastiques Miriodor
KN> Would you believe I still have never heard Miriodor, and
KN> yet I'm certain I will love them when I do. Have you
KN> checked out any 5uu's yet?
I have it since 01/1997. it's excellent! don't know about their 2 first
albums. no 5uu's yet, nor m.t.g. and other related projects.
 MB>> Hy”nteisi„ voi rakastaa H”yry-Kone
KN> Same story with Miriodor, haven't heard Hoyry-Kone yet,
KN> though I've gotten into other Hungarian music lately. I'm
KN> sure I'll like them when I do.
It's not hungarian, it's finnish. :-) btw, Miriodor and H”yry-Kone
often sound alike. But not that often. That album of Miriodor is very
crazy-circus (de joyeux romanichels d‚traqu‚s) while the latter band
are very varied (funkbluesnewageballadtechnosalsarioprog) and change
very brusquely from relaxed to really aggressive)
 MB>> Post Bj”rk
MB>> Haus der Lge Einstrzende Neubauten
KN> These are guilty pleasures for me.
:-)
 MB>> Toscco Happy Family
 KN> I don't know this. Keskesay?
Happy Family's 2nd album, a little softer than the first (grin), but
with more variations and other synths. haven't really got into the 2nd
half of the album yet. Love the first album though. Very
MagmaKingCrimsonPrimus (and UniversZ‚roWeidorje critics say).
