Those "Surface Gap" plugs (some people call 'em "side gap", some
call 'em "360 degree plugs") are used, as far as I know, ONLY on
2 cycle, outboard type boats. That explains why YOU had 'em. :-D
Anyway, they're supposedly /real/ resistant to fouling out, so
that's why they use 'em on those motors.. I suppose they use 'em
in that application only is because they figure the boats will
be out in the outdoors, abused and neglected more than the
average vehicle. You know.. stale gas and whatnot.
Anyway, they DON'T use 'em on "normal" cars, because the gap
can't be adjusted on them. You figure, if they outside of the
plug is the "prong" side on the regular plugs.. well, you can't
MOVE the outside of the plugs inwards, so you just can't gap the
things.
I dunno what else to tell you.. they're spark plugs just like
anything else, ceptin' someone lopped off the little prong-end.
Mike..;)
