MB>> how come nobody is talking about RIO, Canterbury, Zeuhl, Krautrock
 MB>> anymore here???
DM> We find it more stimulaxing to ask why people aren't talking about
DM> stuff than to actually talk about stuff. Then we argue about what
DM> is or isn't on topic for a while since we don't really have anything
DM> interesting to say about either category...
rotfl!!!!
DM> But I have come across Xaal's _On The Way (En Chemin)_ CD recently.
DM> It seems like pretty good instrumental gtr-bs-dm trio proggy stuff.
 DM> Is this Zuehl? Zuehlish?
I've heard the name Xaal before. (does it take double tremas? well,
anyway...) btw it's written Zeuhl (you inverted), and it's pronounced
as Zeul in French, Zoehl in German/Swedish/etc., Zerl in English (lousy
inaudible R please!), and inpronouncable in Esperanto, for which i'd
recommend an alternate pronounciation, Zeuxl, or if you prefer,
Zeŭl, which is quite bad aesthetically (imho of course),
compared to the original: back in English it would be Zaywl. :-/
Speaking of which, you asked my a question about Zeuhl. :-)
DM> Nice to see you back. Fidonet has left lots of people, rather than
 DM> vice versa, I think.
what do you mean?
DM> So, what about RIO? Is it a musical movement
DM> or merely a political one?
both, though musically it has lots of divergences. Is kinda like the
second-order prog... like, we have "Prog-Rock", RIO is
"Prog-Prog-Rock". There is already lots of variety in Prog-Rock, that
amount should square up in RIO. I'm not really much aware of the
political part though. Read a little about it, only.
DM> Can you be Zuehl if you don't speak
 DM> French?
?????
Happy Family is often considered as Zeuhl. See the critic of
their debut album in 'Audion', sometime in '95.
DM> Le Vieux Chasseur de Fromage
hahaha!!! the old cheesechaser !!!
