This is going to both FORLE, and to the CC list.
Folks, I ma beginning to have some real conflicting thoughts regarding
the elections coming up next year, and in 2000. Not a day goes by that
I don't get riled at the things which are coming out of Washington,
things which are supported by the Republicans as well as the Democrats.
My dilemma is simple, I am more and more identifying with those of the
libertarian persuasion, but I don't realistically see anyone other than
one of the two major parties getting into the White House, or into any
of the Congressional seats that represent me. This being the case, my
vote for a third party could very well put a Liberal Democrat into
office, and that would, in my opinion, be disastrous! I am aware that
this is a bit early for this to come up, but with the campaigns
starting up after the first of the year, this sort of question needs to
be answered. Just this morning, Ralph Reed was on Fox News Sunday,
plugging tax credits for attending private schools. The only thing I
could think about was that the discussion should have been, why the
Feds are even involved in local education. Education is, or should be,
a local issue. The State and Federal Governments have no business
getting involved, and yet our supposedly conservative Republicans seem
to like Federal control of the local issues.
