That is NOT my understanding of either the &F or &F1 commands. To quote from
my Courier User's Manual:
"&Fn The modem is shipped with four configurations (templates), &F0-&F3,
stored in the permanent nonprogrammable memory (ROM)." It goes on to say:
"Any one of the templates can be loaded into current memory (AT&Fn) or
written to nonvolatile memory to serve as a reset default (AT&Fn&W)."
