I don't think that it's line noise or memory problems, becauuse that's
never been a factor before and Xmodem and Ymodem work fine.  Also, I've
picked up version 4.21, but it still doesn't work right.  BTW, I have
the dialing prefix set to disable call-waiting on any call from my
modem.
