It isn't needed.
The nodelist is only needed for netmail. Several of the smaller BBS's
in USA even use a trimmed down nodelist catering only for the BBS's
that the users send regualr netmail too.

We can already run as a point using Steven Kunc's VORTEXNET BBS
software.  This however has two drawbacks. 1. 3 drives (minimum) are
required, and the BBS you point from must be willing to send/recieve
uncompressed packets.
