AM> One interesting experience I had was that my Telebit Fastblazer 8840
 AM> wouldn't connect to GDC Desktop V.F 288's reliably. I reported the
AM> problem to Telebit who provided a couple of firmware updates *for the
 AM> GDC modems*.
AM> ITK told me today that the last Telebit Fastblazer firmware update
AM> (May 1997) was for compatibility with USR modems.
AM> I'd reiterate that non-Rockwell modems talk well to other
 AM> non-Rockwells.
You're also bringing up an important point, that is not all Rockwell iron
is "glue and go". Many of their modems are running Rockwell chipsets with
custom-written firmware. This is also where I've seen a lot of headaches
trying to connect to such modems.
