I don't have the full entertainment toolkit yet since I still haven't got devcon 8 from IBM; but I got part of it from an IBMer. The RTMIDI system works for me with an MPU-401 card and a Roland MT-32 hooked to it. However, it's not really real-time - switching to PM will often break the music during screen redraws ...
