I have a Sportster and Express. I get anywhere from 26.4 to 33.6 connects. My 
connect with my NC is most times 26.4 never a 33.6 connect. These are all 
within 5 miles from my house. It depends on the switches you have to go 
through. When I was running Planet Connect I got 31 and 33 connects. Their 
almost on the other coast from me. USR and Supra are the only two modems I 
will buy. My guess is the phone lines or the modem you are connecting to. Do 
what I do and live with it my friend. The difference in speed is not worth 
the trouble anyway. Going to the more expensive models will not help. At 
least it didn't help me. The Supra does help with the connecting to my 
Internet server. The connect speed is the same but the connecting is better 
with the Express.
