        That IS cheap... i got this guy for a steal for $700, but had
      to buy his cage/accessories. Lots of things to consider... maybe
      the cheap bird bites, won't come out and be friendly, is diseased,
      plucks his feathers... lots of things. Since you don't have a
      bird now, it might be worth a trip to their home to see him (you
      won't have to worry about bringing back an illness to a pre-
      existing pet). See if the people will let you handle him, what
      he looks like, how he acts. Most greys are very shy though...
      mine is more outgoing than usual but still won't talk if strangers
      are in the room. He will let himself be picked up by people if i'm
      around. Don't be too alarmed if the critter huddles in the back
      of the cage if he sees you! Good luck... let us know if you
      visit/buy him, okay? I have to commend you once again on your
      caution and research about getting a parrot for a pet.

        Same situation here... small house, lotsa kids, not much room!
      I'd love to get into breeding smaller parrots tho when these guys
      are grown and outta here. The friend i got my grey from has a 
      cockatoo (white, umbrella??) who is blind. She is a sweetheart
      tho... one of the most lovable, cuddliest birds i've ever handled,
      once you let her get used to you. Have you ever seen a Moluccan?
      They are gorgeous.
