You can disable Call Waiting for the duration of your session on-line
by having your modem put out a code at the beginning of your dialling
string. It's sort of the same thing as, if you're making an important
voice call and you don't want to be disturbed, you punch #6 or some
such code before you dial the number, and for that call only, you get
   no call waiting beeps.
I don't know what exactly the code is, but your phone provider can tell
you. For modem activity, you'd just need to put the code in front
of your number, I think. Like atdt#67451602, or just reenter the number
you call in your software's dialling directory with #6 (or whatever it
really is) in front of it.
I'm sorry I don't know the specific code and how it's done, but I
haven't had to figure it out so far, I just know it's possible.
Maybe someone else will step in with the real dope.
cul, ps
