Jud,
I ran into an (new?) type this week which seems to fulfill the need for big 
integers. I never noticed it earlier so it's probably new to Delphi 3. The 
type is called Comp and although the compiler treats it as a float type, it 
is really a signed double (64 bit) integer and you can treat it as such as 
you wish.
