You might try the S.W.A.T. Net, Monday evenings. I think it starts at 9 pm
Central time. A fellow in Hennryetta, Oklahoma, runs this net on 144.250 USB.
I have heard and worked him up here in Joplin, MO with only a 7-beam and 10
watts. This guy has a HUMOUNGOUS antenna setup, quad 14-elements in phase,
and starts pointing due south (towards Dallas) and turns around slowly. We
get into him around 10:30 or so.

You can't go wrong, as you know from the VHF QSO a couple of months ago,
SSB signals go a looooong way. I worked several folks well over 500 miles
away during the contest (and just got my 1997 participation pin in the mail
Friday!).

If not them, then just get on 144.200 and yell. Someone's bound to hear
you. :-)

Which reminds me, I had some QSO cards made up, and I need to send a few
off to my VHF contacts. :-)
