-> On 08-03-97 FRANK SWARBRICK wrote to KENNETH NEWMAN... -> -> FS> I don't know much about RIO or Zeuhl, but I'll give a small -> mention of FS> the two most recent things I've purchased. -> FS> -> FS> Camel _Harbour of Tears_: Heavily influnced by Irish folk music, -> FS> some smoooooth guitar. I really like this album. Not at all hea -> FS> it kind of just "floats" in your ears. Very peacful, with some -> FS> wonderfully blusey guitar by Andrew Latimer. Highly recommended! -> -> So it's ok to start buying Camel albums again? I pretty -> much gave up after _Raindances_. -> -> FS> Magellan _Test Of Wills_: Quite the opposite. Now, don't get me -> FS> wrong, I like their other album that I have, _Impending -> Ascension_, -> FS> but I just can't stomach this new one. -> -> Oh, then I probably won't like it. -> -> FS> There is no grace, no subtlety, just a heck of a lot of noise. -> -> But then again I might, as these are qualities I value -> highly. :-) -> -> A propos of nothing, lately, I've been listening to a CD -> I bought for 33 cents by a band called the Alex Cline -> Ensemble, titled _Montsalvat_. It's kind of like new age -> RIO, if you can imagine it, very grim and scary, haunting -> and cacophonous. It's on Nine Winds Records out of -> Beverly Hills, of all places. Anyone know anything about -> this band? THe CD has basically no info except -> musicians, instruments and titles. It's a percussionist's -> band with bass, cello, violin, keyboards and female voice -> (no vocals). I'm not sure if I like it but I keep -> listening to it, if that makes any sense. -> -> Cheers, -> Kenneth -> --- -> * OFFLINE 1.58 * How do YOU spell computer? -> --- FidoPCB v1.4 [ff238/x] -> (1:229/510) --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 ----------------> * Origin: OnLine Now Thunder Bay ON, Canada (807)-345-1531 * Origin: Fresh Start BBS * Edison NJ * (732) 248-1678 * (1:107/310.0) |
