Hello mark!

I have come across this remark before.
There is no reason why this cannot be done on a BSO system.
If you do not run binkd in deamon mode there is the option printq that will
produce output after a rescan.
But there is another way as well, it is used in the ifmail package. That
package has a utility that scans the outboud directories. Looks for .flx
files and the files referenced. it reports the flavour of the flo file,
the total size of the files referenced in the flo file and the ftn address
as reconstructed from the filename of the flo file.
The age of the waiting mail is derived from the creation date of the flo file.
There is no magic and can be made by anybody with some experience in building
fidonet utillities.
I run ifstat every 30 seconds using "watch" and I pass the output through a
script that does some editing, to make it more apealing to me.
The above is run in a separate terminal on my workstation, so I can watch it
all day.
The output of ifstat is:
flavor size age address
.N.. 549862 5 days 2:280/1041@fidonet
.N.. 38950 5 hours 2:280/1208@fidonet
..H. 3020 7 minutes 2:280/5268@fidonet
.N.. 18956 7 minutes 2:280/5003.4@fidonet
There is one error in the report, the reported size is twice the real size
of the waiting mail. I could look for this bug, but I don't care.
I my case it now looks like this:
#------------------------ Mail Queue ------------------------#
Flavor Size Age Address Name
.N.. 549862 5 days 2:280/1041 Arnoud Aquina
.N.. 38950 5 hours 2:280/1208 Henri Derksen
..H. 3020 7 minutes 2:280/5268 John Goedkoop
.N.. 18956 7 minutes 2:280/5003.4 Kees van Eeten
Maybe this inspires Michiel or someone.
I present other satistics with the same script on tthe screen as well, but
that is not relevant to this discussion.
