subject: has RIME died ??

->snipped<-

WS>-> Ed Koon had to discontinue the RIMEs he had been
WS>-> carrying because they were being bombed with old
WS>-> messages up to 4 years old.
WS>->
WS>-> Moondog BBS and others don't respond lately.
WS>->
WS>-> ??????????????????????

WS>Weird... a "message burp" *USUALLY* means that an
"oldtimer" has
WS>rejoined the network and somehow messed up the message rescanning.
WS>SpitFire boards used to do this all the time. It was known as the
WS>'BCSCUTI Burp' because the BCSCUTI utility had a problem with
WS>rescanning. This is usually a sign that the network *IS COMING BACK TO
WS>LIFE* rather than it is declining.... The correct response is something
WS>like "Shame on Sysop XXXXX ! ..."

Thanks Winston but Sysop, Ed Koon has been very cooperative
so I am not inclined to scold him these access shrinking days.
(I think he started supporting RIMEs when I asked if he could
carry the RIME genealogy conferences I was missing and feared
all would be lost to me when Todd Cochrane pulls the plug on
his bbsnets.com 8-(

I am glad to see the chowdanet.com is back on line again. I
can't remember my earlier p/w so I will have to drop Craig
a SASE to get it recalled for my access again. The old DUN
and 216.175.159.59 URL/DNS are still listed on the RIME
www.relaynet.org/rlink.htm page (as are many other addresses
that need some editting if users are to find them to use).

Good to talk with you again Winston. If you have never visited
bbs.docsplace.org, I suggest you might well enjoy browseing it
some rainy day.

Ciao, Ack.
