BMP is basically pretty easy to do, as long as you don't need RLE.
I haven't got any PB code to do it, but I think I can produce it quite
easily. Provided you give me some clue on what you want it to do. ;-)
For BMP, check out the Windows help file "DIBs and their uses",
DIBS2.HLP, available from MS as DIBS2.EXE. I most definitely recommend
it; the archive is only 36k. Actually, a BMP file IS a DIB (Device
Independent Bitmap), plus an extra intro field.
Also, there's good (C) source code in the JPEG source code from the
Independent JPEG Group (it can handle lot's of formats, including GIF,
and maybe, just maybe, PCX too). It might be worth a look, as it shows
how to tackle this in a device-independent way. IT's big though, the
archive is over 600k.
As for converting to GIF: there was some freeware Windows prgram (tiny
really), that convert BMP to GIF. The name is, very appropriately,
BMP2GIF.
p.s. For any personal replies (this was posted as well), you may just as
well use Dutch.
Bart.
