The WP&YR started operating in 1900 and continued operating a railway
between Skagway and Whitehorse until 1982.  The lead-zince mine at Farco
shut down for a while in 1981 and by the time the mine reopened there was
no business case for the railway carrying the ore.

Toronto is only some 3600 km from here so I haven't made the trip since
2004. But if you don't get here soon, I may be gone.  I'm retiring this
year and my wife and I are looking for southerly climes in which to live.

Minot could get there with wind chill and would not be warm.  But you've
been spoiled by life in the bayou and only have to deal with a hurricane to
make up for that.
