Yup. Same 1956 Chilton's Manual calls for 70-75 ft-lbs. for 7/16-14
head bolts, 1948 to 1948. Doesn't specifically say 1940, but the
engine appears identical. Manifold bolts not mentioned. I'd go by
the generic torque spec for the class of bolt, probably grade 5
(three lines on top of the head).
Other torque specs:
Main Bearings: 130-140 ft-lbs 9/16-12 bolt
Rod Bearings: 60-65 ft-lbs "special" bolt
Flywheel to Crankshaft: 65-70 standard shift 7/16-20 bolt
" " : 70-75 Hydramatic 7/16-20 bolt
Fan Pulley retaining bolt: 95-100 ft-lbs 5/8-18 bolt
Head sequence:
19 13 12 5 4 9 10 17
18 6 3 2 7 14
21 20 11 1 8 16 15
Not to scale, but...
I took a quick look through the Cadillac section, and there didn't
seem to be much in the way of special reassembly instructions. Just
the common-sense stuff you'd expect.
Good luck on the project!
