A reminder on the BBS that is run at 3:711/934, since a few
people have suggested the sysop of same has been stuffing
around with all sorts of things.
1. The system 3:711/934 is designed to be a place for you to
get a reliable mail feed, where you couldn't give a stuff about
the sysop any more than the sysop could give a stuff about you.
2. The sysop of 3:711/934 couldn't give a shit what you do, so
long as you follow POLICY4 and the FTS specs. This also means
that if the moderator of an echo asks the sysop to disconnect
you from an echo, he is duty-bound to do so or face expulsion
for the whole BBS. It would be helpful if when the moderator
says that your feed will be cut, you say "Ok, get stuffed, I'm
leaving" to save the sysop from being annoyed by the moderator.
3. The sysop of 3:711/934 rarely bothers to do anything with
the system because that both wastes his time which could be
spent reading his own mail, and has a good chance of stuffing
the system up.
4. The sysop hates his modem as much as the rest of you, but
he is using the TR-authorized settings, which you can find
out by reading the SPIRIT_BAG echo. These settings have been
in use for something like 6 months without change, so if you
are having problems with connects, test things out thoroughly
from your end before wondering what the sysop has changed.
Despite the illusion created by some sysops, the sysop of
3:711/934 does not have the power to change either the weather,
or Telecom or Optus long distance phone call policy.
5. All points off 3:711/934 are basically the same, so do not
think that any one point has the answers to everything. From
time to time a particular point may claim to know everything
(especially those with even prime numbers as their point
number), in which case, feel free to hassle them for the
failure of any connection you care to name. Another logical
order for hassling people might be in numerical sequence, e.g.
hassle point 1 first, then 2, then 3 etc, carefully skipping
any odd square numbers, unless that number happens to be one
more than the number used by someone employed as a stockbroker.
6. The sysop of 3:711/934 doesn't have a clue what files are
available on 3:711/934, because they are all placed there by
quite a number of points, especially those points whose point
number is the square of an even prime.
7. State Rail apologizes for any inconvenience.
8. Above message was posted on behalf of the sysop of 3:711/934
who couldn't type it personally because he was too busy watching
"Bottom" which he hopes he recorded off the ABC, but has had a
very bad record of getting his stupid video recorder from
recording the things he wants to watch, even though he's a dab
hand at the teletext and on/off buttons.
