Subject: VX-REXX : Is is right for me?

I'm about to upgrade from an old 286 based system, and will finally be able
to use a new graphical operating system. I've been reading messages in the
OS/2 conferences for quite awhile, and I've decided to go with OS/2 Warp as
my operating system.

When I upgrade and have OS/2 installed, I'd like to try programming in
Watcom VX-REXX, but don't know much about it. As my hobby is the study of
internal and external ballistics (for firearms), the mathematical aspects
and capabilities of VX-REXX would be taxed heavily. The ability to easily
graph series of calculated output is a must. Can anyone with VX-REXX
experience inform me if I'm about to make a bad purchase? If so, what
alternatives should I consider for OS/2 programming? Most of my
programming experience is with the old Borland Turbo Basic (very similar to
MS Quickbasic), and with rather involved macro programming using Borland
Quattro Pro (for DOS). Whichever program I end up using, it must be
capable of compiling to a freestanding executable program for distribution.
