It seems a shame to have to throw out the old one.  There wouldn't be much
interest for an older parallel port scanner on other systems.  People seem
to be "upgrading" to XP just because MS encourages them to do so.
 :(

Meanwhile I learned about a BIOS adjustment that's worth a try.
