Trust relationship was broken, you probably hadn't renamed the machine then
deleted the old account for the old machine name so you could recreate a
trust between it and the domain. Basically the easiest way I can explain to
fix those is to rename the machine to workgroup and some unique name, then
delete everything from the PDC relating to the old name and then force the
machine back to it's original name and have it rejoin the domain, this
creates a whole new trust and usually fixes things.
