Hi Bob,

PE> In the name of not being inconsiderate arsewipes, why don't you
PE> add a "zip -9k 00000000.MO0 00000000.PKT" to your batch files?
PE> You can change the 9k to 9km if you want to automatically
PE> delete the PKT file after compression is successful.

BL> Don't do it! Beware the dreaded Vettoretti batch file! It's more
BL> devious than a cellar full of rats, trickier than a barrel of monkeys,
BL> wiser than bag of owls, and it works. Brenton's sendmail.bat is like
BL> Genesis, except that instead of the "begats" where you calculate the
BL> life of the world, Brenton has the "if exists". Beware! Here be
BL> Dragons.

ROFL...In fact there IS one slight problem as highlighted by Dieter.
He is correct when he states that the DELETE of TENMIN.QW0 won't
work, it should have been ERASE as he has found. Stuffed if I know
why I typed DELETE in there as I always type ERASE at the command
line. Sorry that I hadn't noticed it myself but I only keep one or
two QWK's as I find that after that I forget whats in them anyway.
As such, that part had never been tested. Oh well, life's like that :)

BL> You have to modify the Telix SLT file too (and recompile), or it'll
BL> keep trying to send the 00000000.pkt.

Yeah, what a pain in the arse. Besides, I actually get a kick out of
seeing my 14k4 modem hit rates of 3,800 cps, even if it is quite rare.
Considering the compression that the modem gets, I doubt that PKZIP
would make much of a difference to the overall TX time and it would
make the merging of PKTs to by TX'd a real pain too.

In short, it just doesn't seem worth the agro. However, the fix in
MAKEMAIL.BAT is quite trivial and worth doing. Just call it up with
your editor and jump to line 50. Change the DELETE to ERASE and all
will be well.

Regards, Brenton
