subject: poll packet

.. One fine day, Paul waffled to Dieter..

 Hello Paul,

PE>> Well if you create a QWK with no messages in it, and then
PE>> get qwk2pkt to convert it into a PKT, the result will
PE>> probably be the correct poll packet. BFN. Paul.

DM> So who is right ? Bob or you ? You sound less decisive - are you
 DM> guessing here ?

PE> We are both right, except:

PE> 1. I've never tried running qwk2pkt with an empty qwk

 It works OK.

PE> 2. Bob is wrong about using a text editor, that's bad news.
PE> Debug would be OK, but a text editor is liable to insert
 PE> extra characters.

Qedit can be configured for no word-wrap, up to 255 characters
 per line.

Anyway, I have to fix up a bug in Makemail that I've found when
the number of QWK's reaches more than nine. Bob has given me a
clue in where to look, and it way involve Bluewave only, not the
other readers. The numbering scheme that Brenton used was QWK,
then QW1, QW2 thru QW9, and then QW0. QW0 is supposed to be
deleted, but the control.dat stuffs up somewhere, and is built
using the old QW0. This stuffs up the status of the messages,
i.e. all marked as being read by me, when in fact they haven't.

I will renumber the QWK's as QWK, QW0, QW1 et al and see what
 happens.

 Dieter
