Learning IPv6 for me means learning all the network stuff involved with
solving IPv6 problems, it's the network segment I need to play with so I
know what I'm doing when we switch our network over to IPv6. I don't think
I'm going to see what I need with an IPv4 tunnel from a single machine or
how IPv6 sees IPv4 sections of the internet if it's not connected to the
internet via a router (an all IPv6 lab network would not show this).

An IPv6 segment is easy since no hardware is required. It is routing or
switching native IPv6 that requires hardware or firmware updates. IPv6
over IPv4 doesn't require that.
