I didn't imply that it was bad. It's just that the unix concept (heavy
weight) processes doesn't fit very well into OS/2's concept of processes,
specially the handling of return values. Even the emx docs state, that
correct handling of return codes is only guaranteed for synchronous child
processes.

And on the subject of using __STDC__, I agree with you. If I would write
the code from ground up, I'd do it in a similar way. But I'm not in the
mood of changing all sources of a bigger GNU util like groff or the text
utils.

But I think that we should close that subject, as it's not directly
connected to OS/2 programming.
