subject: installing over a network

Hello Roy!
Wednesday April 29 1998 from Roy J. Tellason 1:270/615 to Lawrence Garvin:

Yeah, home networks are going to be upgraded faster.
I know by my own experience ;-) When you compare working with slide
scanner, CD->mpg compressor, CD-R images etc. over 10 Mbit vs. 100 Mbit
LAN, additional $200 expenses to buy small 4-port LinkSys 100 Mbit hub
start looking not so big... I certainly haven't optimized my network, but
suddenly discovered that _now_ "bottleneck" lays in EIDE harddisks ;-))
Nevertheless, even effective speed about 2 Mbytes/sec is BIG relief!
BTW, cables must be really good to use 100 Mbit. (experience, again...)
Best wishes, Harry
