As for your batch file. Would it not be easier just to set an environment
variable in BBS.BAT (or whatever you start FD/Max/etc with)? i.e.
SET NODE_NUM=1
And, in your "VIRCHECK.BAT" file, use

if %NODE% == 1 goto ok
if %NODE% == 2 goto ok
echo Unknown node number?
goto Endcheck
:ok
cd\max\vkill%NODE%
vkill -u%1 -f%2 -e%3 -pv:\max -cv:\max\vkill%NODE% -t -v1
cd\max
del dorinfo%NODE%.def
:endcheck
Have you considered that method? Would certainly make your batch file(s)
smaller..
