Ri> That you can't use old MS-DOS device drivers or directly access I/O
Ri> = ports from MS-DOS applications is irrelevant.

It's not irrelevent to me, even if that irreverent to you.
_I've_ paid good money for the programs _I_ like and want to continue
to use. For M$ to disallow such hardware interrupt access whilst,
admittidly, producing superior OSs just shows who's hands are in
who's pockets. And that's not the users. WPA, Passport, media copy
protection, digital rights' "management"... the proofs are obvious:
except to syophants

Ri> complained about these and just about everything else that changes =
Ri> because many people simply to not like change.

FUD. Define change. For the sake of? Progressive? If so, for whom?

Ri> For a similar on the hardware side, how many years did it take for
Ri> = the transition from ISA to PCI? There were plenty of complaints from
Ri> = folks that had an investment in ISA boards that had to be replaced.

More FUD. ISA and PCI co-exist quite happily. There's still plenty of
advanced Mbs that offer a single eISA

Ri> Why = do we still have parallel ports on computers and parallel port
Ri> printers. = USB is a clear win over parallel for printers and some
Ri> folks are not = yet ready to scrap their investment.

Are you argueing that there should be no parallel ports? Humph!
Are you argueing that there should be no serial ports? Hurrumph ;)

So why arn't you using just an X-box? Or just run WinXP MCE?
Perhaps, like the rest of the herd you secretly _like_ the flexibility
that a full OS, like a compleat motherboard, offers?

And could you do _something_ about your continuous overquoting and
use of html? Thanks.

Richard
