Humm, much of what I expect, Ward actually does but my expectations are
other ¨than many. I expect an IC to help with a Zseg when there is a
problem. Ward ¨is *excellent* at that.
I also expect an IC to bring to the ZCC any issues that might impact more
thasn ¨their own zone so they can be discussed. I expect an IC to have
some ¨reasonable level of knowledge of how all 6 zones operate, although I
do not ¨expect total familiar details to the nitty-gritty level. I expect
an open ¨minded approach to things that are 'not the same as the IC's
zone'. Ward is ¨middling on this, possibly because Z2 may be middling on
this. I can not tell.
BF> For several years Ward had to take all kinds of shit from (mostly)
BF> a handful of grunt Z1 sysops. Eventually this same handful of grunt Z1
BF> sysops staged a coup where they claimed to have replaced Ward as IC wi
BF> Malcolm. And the claimed reason was something Ward had done.
Ward got hassled from many, not all Z1 nodes, and the reasons vary as much
as ¨the circumstances. Ward overall did pretty good IMHO. Ward was not
replaced ¨by Z1 however. That was a ZCC vote with 6 zones in the mix. The
final ¨probably issue was Ward saying that something like Z2 had so many
more nodes ¨that the Z2C's vote alone, evenb with all 5 others, would win
and ZCC issue on ¨a vote. That didnt go over well with anyone outside Z2
(and was not universal ¨in Z2). That Z1C did call for the ZCC vote
however, is true. That the Z1C did ¨so at the request of some Z1 nodes,
seems to be true. That didnt mean the ¨other ZC's had to go along with
that.
BF> So now the coup makers claim we've got a new IC. And this IC has do

BF> one? And in a technical environment, at least *I* don't think that mai
BF> a low profile has any benefits at all.
This is open to question. All I can see of Malcolm is he is trying to
balance ¨things and allowing testing of new ideas.
It doesnt bother me that some consider Ward as IC still, but it will not
¨affect me either. I was not a ZC when the vote happened, but will go with
the ¨collective 6 vote without messing with Ward's head about it.
