Hmm, before spending any money you should take a look at GNU's DJGPP. It's a
free DOS 32 bits protected mode C & C++ compiler that creates good and fast
executables. It can be obtained from http://www.delorie.com on the Internet.
If you have no Internet account it can be ordered ( comes on 24 diskettes I
believe. If you need to, tell me and I'll try to find the adress ).
In contrast to Watcom and Borland you can get a DOS IDE, like the Turbo C++
one. It's called Rhide and free as well (get version 1.3 or higher).
One last hint, if you think of trying this. Thoroughly read the readme.1st
file to get all the nessessairy files and stuff installed the right way on
your HD.
